Wherever you are in the world it’s great to have your go-to-nights! Here’s a weekly breakdown of our favorite famous nights in Quetzaltenango as well as some impressive newcomers that will never let you down.

Weeknights in Xela

Monday night

Kasa Kiwi

2for1 – Kasa Kiwi – 4:30 to 10:30pm (8-38, 9a. Avenida) Zona 1

Looking for a cheap night to kick off the week? Head down to the roof terrace at Kasa Kiwi and mix up some great views with 2 for 1 offers on micheladas and a host of beers and spirits.

For any artisanal beer lovers, this may be one of the cheapest nights in all of Central America to get your fill, with various Brooklyn and Rogue brews on offer for as little as two for Q35.

Tuesday night

2 for 1 margaritas – Tacorazon – 12pm noon to 10pm (12 avenida 3-80 Zona 1)

Tacorazon

Salted, sweetened or spiced? 2 for 1 margarita Tuesday at Tacorazon is the perfect spot for a boozy

dinner with mates before heading out. The burritos are enormous and full of flavor. Specials include the Cabro beer-inflused pork and fried avocado. Plus, they’ll deep fry your burrito! Tacorazon is known for its ethical business practices and organic sourcing. It pays employees a rare fair wage.

Tuesday is a regular home for stray ex-pats seeking out cheap drinks, so come down to meet some new mates as well.

Trivia – King and Queens – Kicks off 8-9pm to 1am (13-27, 7. Calle) Zone 1

King and Queens

Test your knowledge with Sean, Tetox and 2 for 1 wine at one of Xela’s oldest nights. It’s all that you’d expect from a quiz, with your classic categories, games and prizes, but spiced up with some great Guatemalan trivia as well.

Presented in both English and Spanish it’s perfect for those looking to practice some lingo!

Wednesday night

Winesday – Bajo la Luna – 7 to 11pm (4a Calle D3-72) Zone 1

Bajo la Luna

Looking for an evening with slightly more sophistication? Bajo la Luna is your place, with a great selection of wine all 20% off and the feel of a cozy cave. In addition to your standard red or white, they’re packing mimosas, glühwein, kalimotxos and sangria.

With some of the best burgers and fondue in town, you can head for dinner and see where the night takes you. This is the best date night in Xela.

Salsa – Pool and Beer – 7 to 1am (10-21, 12 Avenida) Zone 1

Pool and Beer

Another classic Xela night. Take your moves from class to club and learn some new tricks, Wednesday at Pool and Beer.

King and Queens

A big favorite in Xela for a long time. Everyone is welcome, whether you think you can wow us or if you’re bad enough to pull some laughs.

Plenty of Dutch courage flying about with King and Queens policy of double measures for every drink. No messing!
