Molly Tenzer
We are honored to name Molly Tenzer
as our Volunteer of the Month. Molly
has been working for more than 6
months in the Maya Mam community
of San Mar tin Sacatepéquez.
UNODESMA, an umbrella organization
for San Martin´s community
associations, needed a volunteer
with Advanced Spanish and English
language skills, excellent writing
skills, and a motivation to learn the
process of international grant writing
without much direct supervision. In
Molly, they have received a volunteer
who exceeds those requirements,
and brings many valuable personal
qualities to the position. Molly has
demonstrated a willingness to
learn, self-confidence and great
interpersonal skills, and the ability
to lead a diverse group through
problem-solving discussions. Using
her cultural understanding and
perseverance, Molly has worked
towards revitalizing a community
organization. She assisted in the
formation of a sewing cooperative,
and collaborated on projects with
San Martin-based Peace Corps
Volunteer Angela Prieto, Asociación
de Mujeres del Altiplano (AMA),
San Martin’s dynamic non-profit
Xela-AID, and has translated in local
development conferences. Molly also
taught English at CEIPA in Salcajá, a
school for working children (ages
7-15) who aren’t able to attend public
school. For all of these reasons, Molly
is an exemplary volunteer. Thank
